On his blog, Belgian artist Michaël Samyn reports on the state of the crowd-funded remake of The Endless Forest (2005), a celebrated multiplayer online game and social screensaver he released with partner Auriea Harvey under their Tale of Tales moniker. Resurrecting the enchanted woodland and its beloved critters in Unreal Engine required some letting go, Samyn writes. Rather than trying to mimic the primitive rendering of the original (made in Quest3D), “I decided to just make the game look good.”
