Total Refusal’s solo exhibition “BPM” opens at Aksioma in Ljubljana, Slovenia, bringing two of the Austrian machinima collective’s videogame interventions, Hardly Working (2022) and Club Stahlbad (2023), to the art organisation’s project space. Curated by !Mediengruppe Bitnik for the ongoing “(Un)real Data – Real Effects” program, the two works extract and question the “inexhaustible” capitalist representations of ‘labour’ and ‘leisure’ found in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077.
