“Key Operators” Parse Signifiance of Weaving at Kunstverein München

A critical intervention into the media art canon, “Key Operators: Weaving and Coding as a Means of Feminist Historiography” opens at Kunstverein München (DE). Pioneering text and textile artists Pati Hill, Charlotte Johannesson, and Alison Knowles, and Beryl Korot are featured alongside younger artists including Lotus L. Kang and Katrin Mayer. Working with punch cards and computer looms the ‘key operators’ explore links between feminized labour and weaving “both historically and metaphorically.”
