Part of the experimental music-focused FAUN Festival, “Beyond the Sound” opens at the Brno House of the Arts (CZ). Curated by Jiří Suchánek, artists including Evelina Domnitch & Dmitry Gelfand, Interspecifics, Ioana Vreme Moser, and ::vtol:: contribute works exploring the “fragility of relationships” between sound and nature. Gil Delindro’s Burned Cork – Resilience (2021, image), for example, sonifies charred cork oak—a durable species threatened by wildfires (and monoculture) in his native Portugal.
